Residential | Private Housing

Guy Logan Architects were commissioned to undertake a feasibility study to identify opportunities and constraints for the refurbishment of an existing 1930s detached house in Herne Hill.

The clients brief focused on natural light to permeate internal spaces and enhanced connections between the house and rear garden. Extensive thermal upgrades beyond that required by regulation were made to the building envelope to improve thermal comfort.

A muted material pallet was selected to respect the original dwelling whilst bold forms provided a contemporary living environment. The muted exteriors were juxtaposed by expressive interiors and furniture by Jimmie Martin.
